The course starts by discussing the role of the GRI Sector Standards in general, their purpose, objective, and development process. It addresses often-raised concerns about the limitations of the sustainability reporting process and demonstrates how the Sector Standards can strengthen this process. Then, the course takes a deep dive into the structure of GRI 11: Oil and Gas Sector 2021, its likely material topics and the context and impacts of the oil and gas sector. It also presents in detail how GRI 11 comes into play in the reporting process using the GRI Standards. Finally, the course contains case studies of two organizations in the oil and gas sector that share their experience of using GRI 11.
